Recycled PET in the production of durable and long lasting products.
What is PET ?
Polyethylene terephthalate commonly abbreviated PET, is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in fibres for clothing, containers for liquids and foods, thermoforming for manufacturing, and in combination with glass fibre for engineering resins.
PET material is ground into particles known as “flakes.” Flake purity is central to preserving the value of the reclaimed plastic. Further separation techniques involve washing and air classification as well as water baths. The use of disinfectants and detergents aids in achieving a complete cleaning.
After the completion of grinding, washing and separation, the material is rinsed to eliminate any remaining contaminants or cleaning agents. The recycled PET is then dried before reintroduction as a manufacturing material.
The use of recycled PET in place of virgin resin typically results in reduced energy consumption, lower cost, and reduced environmental impact.
The Eco Safety Harness
is made to the same specification of our best selling UK manufactured Harness but made from 45mm webbing that is produced from upcylced PET.
The webbing is coated with a durable water repellent (DWR) that is PFC-free – hazardous fluorinated compounds that are bio-accumulative. The dye used in this webbing is OEKO-TEX® meaning it is certified free from harmful chemicals.
The harness specification is identical to the Endurance Harness ( SCS021) fitted with a rear D attachment and a chest-mounted front D Rings for attachment to Work Restraint and Fall Arrest components.
Scissorsafe supplied components are supplied with a Declaration of Conformity, a User Record Card and User Guide.
This Lanyard can be used  if in usable condition and regularly inspected for five years in the first ten years from manufacture.
